The Bible series finale airs Easter Sunday on History Channel
at 8/7c. The final episode features scenes from the Crucifixion and
Resurrection of Christ.
Easily the most anticipated episode of series, Diogo Morgado, the
actor who plays Jesus was overwhelmed to take on a role that meant so
many different things to some many different people.
"It's just not a normal project. It's not just something that you
normally do. It's not just another script. It's not just another story.
Especially, people don't see it like that. This is really personal for
billions of people around the world...First of all I was overwhelmed
because I grew up in Portugal, which is a really Christian country. I
grew up with the Bible. I grew up with Jesus Christ. I felt that I was a
lucky person."
Though Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ already did a good job of visually representing Christ suffering, Diogo Morgado believes The Bible represents not only the physicality of the Crucifixion but also suffering through the eyes of a mother.
"We already saw a version of the story that is quite visual in terms of suffering [referring to Gibson's Passion].
This one, the first time Jesus is being whipped we see his mom and her
suffering, watching her son being beaten. That's a totally different
suffering. It's not a visual suffering, it's an emotional suffering.
History Channel's epic new miniseries, The Bible covers the
sacred text from Genesis to Revelation. Live action and cutting-edge CGI
bring the iconic stories to life, offering new insight into famous
scenes and unforgettable characters.
Created by producer couple Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, this 10-hour
docudrama explores legendary stories such as Noah's in the ark, the
Exodus and the life of Jesus.
Tune in Easter Sunday for The Bible series finale on History Channel at 8/7c.
